About Uptown Group

What is Uptown?uptown house corner view 2

Uptown House is a great old house located at 1344 Summit Avenue in St. Paul where  AA and Al-Anon meetings are held every day.

Because AA groups do not own property, the Uptown founders in 1975 formed the non-profit corporation Uptown Foundation, Inc.  This foundation purchased the house and is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of it for the sole purpose of providing space for AA and Al-Anon meetings.

A second non-profit corporation named Uptown Group, Inc. was formed to manage the many AA meetings held at the house. The bylaws of Uptown Group created a steering board to foster and assist the activities of the house’s many AA groups or squads, as well as the Al-Anon groups. You can reach the steering board by email at info@uptowngroupstpaul.com), or leave a paper message in the drop box (by the literature rack) at Uptown House.

A list of meetings available at Uptown House is located under the Meeting Schedules menu link on this site. A full list of meetings in the Saint Paul area is available from Saint Paul Intergroup. You may also call (651) 227-5502 to reach Intergroup 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The operator can help you find meetings, answer questions or just help you connect with another alcoholic any time you need.
