Below are all of the Uptown Steering Board positions. Positions with an open seat are marked in red — if you’re interested in serving, just come to the next meeting to express your interest!

Board Positions
Chair
Presides over the monthly Steering Board meetings and oversees the general operation of the House.
Bookkeeper
Maintains the financial records of the House and works closely with the Treasurer on financial matters.
Treasurer / Co-Treasurer
Co-Treasurer position open, volunteers needed!
Works closely with the Bookkeeper on financial matters of the House. This member compiles and reports pertinent financial information at each monthly meeting.
Intergroup Chair / Co-Chair
Intergroup Chair and Co-Chair positions open, volunteers needed!
Attends monthly Intergroup Steering Board Committee meetings as Uptown’s representative and compiles a brief report of Intergroup activities to the Uptown Board at each meeting.
Gopher State / Fall Picnic / Founders Day Chair / Co-Chair
Co-Chair position open, volunteers needed!
Plans and organizes three major annual events: the Uptown hospitality suites for the Gopher State Roundup in May and Founders Day in November, and the Fall Picnic in September. Key responsibilities for all three events include arranging food and refreshments and coordinating the activities of all volunteers.
Communications Chair / Co-Chair
Co-Chair position open, volunteers needed!
Responsible for maintaining and updating the Uptown Group Facebook page and publishing the quarterly newsletter. This member also maintains and updates the service opportunity and announcement bulletin boards.
General Services Representative (GSR) / Co-GSR
Co-GSR position open, volunteers needed!
Attends the local monthly GSR Committee meetings as a representative of the Uptown Group and compiles and presents a brief report of GSR activities to the Uptown Board at each meeting.
Literature Chair / Co-Chair
Purchases literature for the House and keeps track of inventories.
Development Chair / Co-Chair
Development Chair and Co-Chair positions open, volunteers needed!
Prepares for and oversees the Uptown Annual House “Pledge Drive,” as well as the annual “Heart to Heart” and “Gratitude Month” fundraisers. Further, they seek input, propose, and oversee the improvement of standardized AA group communications as directed by the Board.
House Liaison / Co-Liaison
House Liaison and Co-Liaison positions open, volunteers needed!
Serves as the liaison to all meetings at the House and works with the Steering Board to communicate directly with the meetings through attendance and internal communications.
Outside Commitments Chair / Co-Chair
Co-Chair position open, volunteers needed!
Communicates with treatment centers and other groups interested in hosting meetings at their facilities, and offers these opportunities to our squads. This member also sends guidelines and letters to treatment centers and halfway houses, maintains a list of contacts, and regularly contacts them.
Safety Chair / Co-Chair
Acts as the point of contact for allegations of inappropriate behavior and is responsible for guiding that individual through options, such as speaking with a Trusted Servant to hold a group conscience or taking the issue to the Board. This member provides a chair report each month summarizing any relevant events for the Board.
Pin Night Chair / Pin Night Co-Chair
Organizes the monthly Pin Night speaker meeting and medallion presentations, including arranging speakers and coordinating volunteers. This is a two-year position.
